During the 2nd Seminole War, Seminole leader and warrior, Osceola was captured under the flag of truce, along with many of his followers and taken to Ft. Marion. Osceola was transported to another prison, but his followers remained at Fort Marion. It is said that the prisoners stood on each other’s shoulders and escaped through the window, it is also said that they bribed the guards and walked out the front. But my elders believe that they transformed into owls and flew away. Ft. Marion was originally and is now called The Castillo de San Marcos.
